Early on the morning of 7 December 1941, 73 years ago, Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Let us pause to remember the lives of the many that were lost that day. The pictures in this slide show are real photographs that were found on a roll of film of a camera that was found some years later.
During my tour of duty in the United States Navy, I visited Pearl Harbor, Hawaii many times. I have also visited the Arizona Memorial and other historic sites where the bombings took place. In addition, I also visited ground zero in Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Japan. All of this was a horrific tragedy for both countries, and should serve as a solemn reminder to us all that freedom is not free.
