We should not judge a book by its cover, and every voice deserves an audience. We should always be willing to at least hear what a person has to say before rushing to shut them down. Yes, we could learn a lot more about people and understand them better if we would take the time to get past the cover of the book (outer appearance) and read the contents (get to know their true character). For it is the character of the man that makes the true man.
The flip side of the proverbial coin is that just because someone wants our voices silenced does not mean that we have to comply with their wishes. Change has never come about in this world by people cowering in the corner every time someone told them to sit down and shut up. Nay, change comes because there are people who are willing to stand up, speak up, and speak out even in the face of abject adversity.
I am not so naïve that I do not realize that there are people who incessantly turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to the things that I say or write. That is perfectly fine, however, I believe that I am a clarion voice to the world, and as long as God Almighty continues to allow me to draw breath, I will continue to raise my voice on the highest mountain tops, in the bowels of the lowest valleys, when people want to listen, and especially when they seemingly have no interest and simply wish to squelch my voice.
Today is the day to stand up, speak out, and let our voices be heard. Tomorrow may never come. We Can make a positive change in this world in spite of the opinions of the naysayers and ne’er-do-wells. So take courage and SEIZE the Day!
