“Without inspiration, we’re all like a box of matches that will never be lit.”
― David Archuleta, Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song and the Power of Perseverance

I know that it is not Christmas yet, well almost, only 54 days away, but the video above features two of my all-time favorite artists – the Mormon Tabernacle Choir with special guest David Archuleta. David has been one of my favorite performers since I first discovered him on YouTube and then watched his performances on American Idol. In my humble opinion, he should have definitely been the winner of American Idol that season. However, in the grand scheme of things it really doesn’t matter because his career skyrocketed and he is definitely a music sensation in his own right. This author has all of David’s recordings, including overseas recordings, in his music collection. What can I say? There is something that is special about the way David sings. He sings with heart and soul.

Elder David James Archuleta, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (inadvertently called the “Mormon” Church by the media and others) is currently serving a two-year full-time mission for the Church in Chile. Before leaving on his mission, David recorded several albums which have been released at certain intervals to make sure his loyal fans would still be able to enjoy his music while he is away. He is due to return home from his mission in March 2014 and this author is anxiously waiting, as I am sure his true fans are as well, for his first release upon his return. David is a true performer destined for great things in his career as he is truly an inspiration to many worldwide.

“The future can be a scary thing. Because it’s something that’s always left open for anything to happen. It’s a total mystery. But at the same time, it’s so exciting. Each decision we make can alter how our future will turn out, so how we end up in the future is really our decision. We never know what will be thrown at us, but it’s up to each of us as to how we deal with whatever does come. No one else can decide that for us. While I might be wondering about what will happen down the road for me, and gt nervous about it now and then, I am also really hopeful for it because I know there will be so many windows of opportunity that can really change my life if I choose to take hold of them and not be afraid to go for it.”~ David Archuleta, Chords of Strength: A Memoir of Soul, Song and the Power of Perseverance

Above is another of my personal holiday favorites sung by David Archuleta. The title of the song is “Pat-A-Pan.”

What a nice write up on David! Before he left, he said he wondered if anyone would remember him. I’m glad to see that many have! I love his voice and the person that he is. Very much looking forward to his return and the start of the next chapter in his music career as a full fledged adult! Exciting to think about!

I enjoyed your article! I’m a big fan of David. He hooked me when he sang Imagine the first time on Idol. I have all 6 of his albums as well as Glad Christmas Tidings. I also bought them for my sisters and niece. I visit his Christmas videos all year too. I love his voice and he is a wonderful role model for all ages. I credit David with making me a nicer and more charitable person. I look forward to David’s return in March or early April. If anyone is on twitter he is DavidArchie there. His manager is tweeting until David returns.
